Shanghai Customs Delays (October 7, 2010) Security checks have increased in Shanghai during the World Expo 2010, which is held from May 1 to October 31, 2010. All shipments to or from Shanghai will be subjected to 100% customs inspection. During this period, customs clearance tends to progress slowly and additional inspection may occur at the discretion of the Customs Officers.
Upon arrival of your shipment in Shanghai, your import permit will need to be applied prior to the Customs Clearance process. The ORIGINAL passport with 1 year Shanghai residence permit and the ORIGINAL 1 year Shanghai working permit, combined with other customs application documents will need to be provided to Customs.
During the period of application of the import permit (3 working days), travel out of China is not allowed, as the Customs Officers will hold on to the original passport. Please contact your move Manager at World Headquarters for additional information.
